A handful of well recognised independent fashion players have ensured Australia has been at least partly in the global independent fashion spotlight over the past few years. Whispers from across the pond indicate the spotlight is broadening to also include some of our up-and-coming independent fashion stars, as Ami Kealoha of Cool Hunting recently identified the fresh pieces by Melbourne’s Nikoroo (pictured), Carmel the Intern at Josh Spear noticed Sydney’s Camarilla favourite Saint Augustine Academy and was left lusting for more, while Stella Kae of Metro.Pop magazine hearts Melbourne’s St Lenny in a recent feature article, which also includes a quote from Camarilla. The momentum is building.
