Vanguard and Camarilla Making Headlines

Did anyone else catch Marie-Christine Sourris’ article on Australia ‘upping the ante of its own fashion content online’ via local independent websites? While giving props to Camarilla and others it provides an interesting comparison of online vs print media and provides an accurate insight into online fashion media internationally. Also on print media, just yesterday The Newcastle Herald gave Camarilla’s efforts a nod with a piece praising our re-launch. Sounds like it’s a hit. In the broader world of online fashion, Coutorture has just launched the world’s first social fashion news service. Looks hot. Sheesh… lots happening in this space right now.
Attracting headlines of its own, Vanguard [above] recently caused a fuss in Brisbane with bold men’s styles loosely inspired by the infamous Game Boy. The collection fuses retro prints with stylish cuts and is fast gaining traction interstate after a strong following in Queensland. Fun and stylin’.

Well done on the pick-up by News and the herald - very deserving. It says something that offline publications still have significant pull when it comes to audience reach and credibility.
The News article didn’t touch on the challenges of online publications to be heard in a context where there are 50 million blogs and 2 being added every second. While content is still king, an online publication is so much about relationships and marketing in the battle to be heard and draw an audience.

Thanks Zac
Yes, traditional media certainly has significant sway in terms of reach and cred, I wonder when online publications will reach the ‘tippping point’ and have comparable ‘authority’?
Uh huh, hearing you regarding the omission of online publishing challenges… it’s a fast moving environment and, like traditional publications, business relationships and marketing are only becoming more critical.

Good to see the online independent movement being recognised. I prefer my news in digital form but I can understand the struggles of getting your voice heard amongst a cast of billions on the web.
A bit of linkage to Cama woulda been nice in the article!
